The "St-Zotique" area is located 60 kilometers West from Montreal on "St-François" Lake. The Lake is 5 meters deep underwater. There you can find an artificial river of 8.5 m (28 feet) deep. What makes this place so remarkable and a very good place for kiting is the increase of the current in rather narrow sections of the lake's channel. In which, combined with wind, can give a quite exceptional time while kiting. The Lake holds municipalities which allow their residents to access the Lake from their homes. The place is also known for its beach on the bank.
How to get there:
- Take Highway 20 from West
- Take exit number 6 (St. Thomas Road) and turn right at the end of it.
- After 500 m, take route 338 (Main Street) where you'll turn right (338 West). In less than a kilometer, you'll find is the public beach of St-Zotique (pay site), and the 83rd Avenue (Avenue just after the beach and Marine Rachel), which is a beautiful grassy park free of access.
The municipal beach offers a wide grassy area, a small forest and a sandy beach with lifeguards. Equipment rental is also available. For more information on pricing, hours of operation and services: (450) 267-3003 or visit www.st-zotique.com.
Unfortunately the park holds only one trash can and one picnic table, so if you plan of going on a family trip, it is preferred to go on the municipal beach.
This park is not often visited. The neighborhood is not used to noisy activity. So try to be a little more discreet and not to make too much noise. The parking is reserved for house residents only. You'll have to find a parking spot somewhere around the block on a nearby street.
